HOUSTON — From understanding trusts and insurance to navigating real estate and business ownership, financial decisions can have lasting implications for families and future generations.
A three-day event in Houston this weekend aims to make those conversations more accessible by connecting residents, entrepreneurs and small-business owners with financial professionals and educational resources.
The second annual Black Wall St. Legacy Weekend, scheduled for Nov. 6–8, will focus on the theme “Protecting Your Legacy and Growing Your Wealth.”
Organizers say the event is designed to help participants better understand the tools and strategies available to build financial stability, protect assets and plan for the future.
The weekend will feature discussions on financial literacy, estate planning, trusts, insurance, banking relationships, real estate, entrepreneurship, mental health, artificial intelligence and digital marketing.
Speakers are expected to include Gene Boykin Jr., Dr. Velma Trayham and Benaisha Pooe-Lewis. The program will also include panel discussions, networking opportunities, a vendor marketplace and an awards ceremony recognizing community leaders.
“Legacy is more than what we leave behind. It is what we build, protect, and pass forward,” said Frank Perkins. “Legacy Weekend is designed to give our community access to the information, resources, and connections needed to create a stronger financial future for generations to come.”

Connecting Financial Education With Community Resources
For families and entrepreneurs, understanding financial products and services can be an important part of making informed decisions about long-term economic security.
Topics such as estate planning and insurance can help participants explore ways to protect their assets, while sessions on banking and entrepreneurship may offer insight into managing and growing businesses.
The inclusion of artificial intelligence and digital marketing also reflects the growing role of technology in how small businesses reach customers and compete in the marketplace.
Beyond the educational sessions, organizers plan to provide opportunities for participants to connect with professionals, community leaders and other business owners.
The event’s broader focus is on helping individuals and families identify resources they can use as they work toward their financial goals.
