 Harris County’s investment in naturalization work continues. On October 10, 2023, the county approved a $5.8 million investment in naturalization efforts over the next three years. Currently in Harris County, there are more than 230,000 immigrants eligible to naturalize, and this number is growing daily. One of the biggest barriers to naturalization is access to legal services and fees. According to houston.naturalizenow.org, nearly three in 10 lawful permanent residents (LPRs) live at or below the 150% federal poverty level.
