More than two dozen journalists, media professionals, and community partners gathered Wednesday evening for Jingle Bells for Journalists, an annual holiday celebration held at Karbach Brewing Co. in Houston.

Hosted in collaboration with the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ Houston), Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA Texas), the Houston Association of Black Journalists (HABJ), and Houston Community Media (HCoM), the festive event offered an opportunity for journalists across platforms to unwind, connect, and celebrate the end of the year in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Attendees enjoyed food, drinks, and networking while competing for highly sought-after raffle prizes, including signed Houston Rockets memorabilia, World Champion Houston Astros replica rings, reporter notebooks, and other giveaways designed with journalists in mind.

Christian Herald Publisher Eghosa Edebor, who attended on behalf of HCoM, emphasized the importance of creating intentional spaces for journalists to connect beyond the newsroom.

“Events like this remind us that community still matters — that when journalists come together, we strengthen not only our networks, but our commitment to telling stories that serve the public,” he said.

As the holiday season approaches, Jingle Bells for Journalists served as both a celebration and a reminder of the power of community within the local media landscape.
